Overseas Membership
AIWCF is now open to players from overseas. Players from outside India are welcome to join and play on AIWCF Server. Some overseas players have already joined and are participating in regular tournaments. Questions about their participation in AIWCF Championships (both engine-allowed and engine-forbidden) and joining Friendly International Matches organised by AIWCF are being worked out.
AIWCF WhatsApp Group
The AIWCF WhatsApp group has become a very important way to disseminate information and announcements. Additionally, we have a reasonable amount of social interaction among members mostly to exchange news and views on chess related matters. Each individual should restrict to only two or three posts on any topic and avoid long conversations. We encourage all members to become part of the WhatsApp Group. If you did not join the WhatsApp Group so far, please send your mobile number to Rakesh Agrawal by email: quizrakesh@gmail.com with a request to be included to AIWCF WhatsApp Group.
Copyright Issues
The management would like to caution contributors to articles in the AIWCF bulletin about use of images that are copyrighted. Nowadays, there are stricter controls in cyberspace, and we should respect this. When we use images from other websites, it is often not clear if there is a copyright or not. Where possible, one should seek permission from the webmaster of the third-party website by email. A reference to the original website should always be given.
Payment Gateway
We have closed our association with RazorPay payment gateway after being dissatisfied with their service and unhappy with their terms and conditions. Moving ahead with the times, we realised that UPI payments are much easier for our members as well as potential new members. Accordingly our website links: Join Now: http://www.aiwcf.org/join_now.php and Other Payments: http://www.aiwcf.org/other_payments.php now show UPI payment details including the QR Code image. Pointing your smart camera to this image allows payments to be expedited by GPay or any UPI App. Additionally we also show the NEFT/IMPS details so payments by bank transfer are also welcome.
AIWCF Championship 1520 Started
AIWCF Championship 1520 is now underway. The official start date was 28-09-2022 but players were allowed to make their moves even before that. At the time of writing, 37 games have been completed. We wish best of luck to all the participants!
Afro-Asia Team Tournament Started
The 5th Africa-Asia Team Championship on ICCF Server began with a start date of 7th February 2023. There was a mix-up on the part of the organisers showing an incorrect number of available days on time limit. The time control is the usual 10 moves in 50 days. We asked our players to ignore the error and make their moves. By 1st March 2023, the tournament director (Sailesh Chandra) examined all the games individually and corrected the time stamps. The tournament is running smoothly now.
Friendly International Match
Friendly International Match against Bulgaria with 15 players is announced. At the time of writing, we are finalising our team and the match will get underway soon.
