AICCF and AAW Webserver Updates

A number of updates have been made recently to the All India Correspondence Chess Federation and Africa-Asia-World Webservers.

New mobile friendly Webserver Guide

The Websever Guide on AICCF has been updated and now reflects all the recent changes to the server, including hidden conditional moves. The new Webserver Guide is completely mobile phone friendly. You can see it by clicking Webserver Guide from www.aiccf-chess.com/server or the following direct link: www.aiccf-chess.com/server/guide/guide_int.php

Payment Gateway mid July 2020

A new payment gateway is implemented on AICCF Server. Joining new members as well as existing members who need to make any kind of payment will be happy to see this feature. Details are given elsewhere in this bulletin.

Hidden Conditional Moves

The feature of conditional moves was introduced on AICCF Server several years ago. However, proposed conditional moves were visible to the opponent. Players like Alok Saxena and Om Prakash pointed out that conditional moves should be hidden from the opponent. In April this year, AICCF software was updated so that conditional moves are now HIDDEN. Players can suggest variations in the same way as usual, but the opponent will not know. If the suggested move is made, the game will proceed forward. If both players suggest the same continuation, then the game will move forward as far as it can go consistent with the variations proposed by both sides.

On ICCF server only one conditional sequence, without branches, can be entered. In AICCF server upto 4 conditional sequences can be entered. By repeating part of a previous line, one can, in effect, set branches in conditional sequences.

Endgame Tablebase Automated

Endgame tablebases are available where all possible positions with 7-men left on the board are stored in a computer database with pre-calculated exhaustive analysis. Upto recently, when a position with only 7 men left was reached, the game was stopped and the Administrator would set the result. This could often mean a few days delay.

However, in the present update, the server internally connects to the endgame tablebase website and the result is set with no action from a human administrator.

We thank Austin Lockwood for leading us in the right direction to implemet this.

Endgame tablebase adjudication does not apply to Engine Forbidden games. In engine forbidden games, when a position with only 7 men left is reached, the game will continue. Players should not consult online tablebases and should continue the game.

Bug with YourMove Resolved

Hrikesh Chavan (and several other users of YourMove Mobile App) pointed out that YourMove fails to send a move to AICCF server in some situations. In the position below:

White wants to play 8.Nge2. Since 8.Nce2 is illegal, YourMove transmits 8.Ne2 However this was being rejected by AICCF Server which required 8.Nge2. After consulting Asim Pereira (author of YourMove App) it was decided to make changes in AICCF server to resolve this problem.

XFCC and YourMove Mobile App for AAW Server

While XFCC was implemented on AICCF server since a long time, the Afro-Asia-World server did not have an implementation of XFCC. Recently Sushil Kumar Maurya and Santhosh Matthew Paul asked for the implementation of XFCC on AAW Server which was duly completed in June 2020. XFCC allows sending moves using YourMove Mobile App, ChessOK Aquarium, SCID and other programs to directly send moves to AICCF, AAW and ICCF servers.

It is also necessary to mention that earlier there was a problem in using SCID on AICCF server, but this has been resolved. One can use SCID, SCID-vs-PC or SCID-vs-Mac to make moves on AICCF, AAW and ICCF servers.
