Management Matters |
With this edition of the AICCF Bulletin, Anil Anand has very kindly consented to take over as Bulletin Editor of AICCF. We welcome the effort of our members who are coming forward to take over management duties from the old guard. After the publication of this Bulletin and assessing its response, the AICCF Management Committee will have to formally appoint Anil Anand’s position as Bulletin Editor.
We are also looking for volunteers who can help Dr Chatterjee in carrying out the AICCF webserver functions. This will require only moderate familiarity with computers and no actual programming work. Member Sushil Kumar Maurya an IT professional, has become active again after a long gap from AICCF. Speaking to Dr Chatterjee over phone, he has offered his services to assist in carrying out Webserver functions.
Similarly, we are looking for volunteers who can assist Dr Saxena with the work of Secretary and Treasurer which requires maintenance and submission of accounts, interaction with the auditor and forwarding documents to the Charity Commissioner’s office. We are in touch with Gautam De, to help us in this.
AICCF Elections are due in 2020, and we hope to see new people ready to take over AICCF in order to carry the organisation forward.
We are greatly saddened by the passing away of AICCF’s most prolific player, veteran Shams Khan, who continued playing Correspondence Chess up to his last days.
We welcome the following players who have joined subsequent to the publication of the previous AICCF Bulletin:

Rabi Roy and Biswa Preet Ray are making their debut in AICCF 1517 Championship. AICCF wishes them all the best in their games.
Sushil Kumar Maurya and Dr Nitin Dave who are long standing Life members of AICCF from the postal era, have become active again and started playing on AICCF webserver.
NEW AICCF CHAMPION
Lalit Kapoor won AICCF Championship 1515 and is the current AICCF Champion and therefore a member of AICCF’s Management Committee. AICCF congratulates Lalit Kapoor on his achievement and welcomes him to the AICCF Management Committee. In fact, Om Prakash is the certain winner of ongoing AICCF Championship 1516. However, the official designation of AICCF Champion will take place after the pending games in this championship have been completed.
AICCF CHAMPIONSHIP, 1517
Normally the next AICCF Championship is started around August or September every year. However when we reviewed the situation in August 2018, there were many games still going on in 1515 and 1516. Hence we decided to wait for some time. AICCF Championship, 1517 was started on 19th March 2019 with 15 players: Om Prakash, R.K.Chauhan, Gautam De, Lalit Kapoor, Arghyadip Das, Mohan Turaga, Satyajit Das, Ajith Jose, Anil Anand, B.Mohanakrishnan, Amit Kumar Sharma, Ganesh Hegde, Vikrant Malvankar, Rabi Roy and Biswapreet Ray. Dilshad Kausar and Rohan Saxena who had been selected to play, dropped out at the last minute. The tournament is an exciting mix of some familiar faces and newcomers.
